Safety is in my blood. My father was a Safety Specialist before me, and growing up, I watched him carry a quiet but profound sense of responsibility — the belief that every person who goes to work deserves to come home. He was my first mentor, and together we represent two generations of safety professionals united by the same mission.
That mission has guided me for twenty-eight years — across oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, food and beverage manufacturing, and construction. I've stood on worksites, walked production floors, and listened to workers who were afraid to speak up. One truth has never changed: every worker is someone's favourite person — someone's child, parent, sibling, spouse. They deserve to get home safely.
But caring deeply isn't enough on its own. The tools available to supervision and safety professionals are often clunky, frustrating, and abandoned — not because people don't care, but because the tools don't meet people where they are. That's why I founded Northern Lights AI Inc.: to build AI-powered tools that make the work easier to do, not more complicated — freeing up supervisors and fellow OHS professionals from hours behind a desk, so they, and I, can be where it matters most: in the field, present with the crews.
